This is a short list of available vocations available in the game and what they do.
The Armorer
This is a guide to the Armorer vocation in Lord of the Rings Online. A vocation is comprised of three crafting professions; a production profession, a gathering profession, and a supplemental profession or "side profession".
As you can guess by the name the Armorer builds a wide variety of armor but is most proficient at heavy armor and heavy shields. Armorers can also mine, smelt, craft clothing, and craft leather armor. Armorers have to trade for the hides used in clothing and leather armor as they cannot gather them.

The Armsman makes metal weapons primarily. The Armsman can mine, smelt, and make about any metal blade or weapon but he has to trade with other players to craft wood weapons such as bows, staves, and spears.

The Explorer
This is a guide to the Explorer vocation in Lord of the Rings Online. A vocation is comprised of three crafting professions; a production profession, a gathering profession, and a supplemental profession or "side profession".
The Explorer is really the master gatherer of the game. This is the vocation I chose because I don't like crafting and I spend most of my time adventuring and this guy can do his thing as you move through Middle Earth. Light and Medium armor wearers might also like this vocation because of the associated Tailor profession.
Crafting Professions
- Forester
- Prospector
- Tailor
The Historian
This is a guide to the Historian vocation in Lord of the Rings Online. A vocation is comprised of three crafting professions; a production profession, a gathering profession, and a supplemental profession or "side profession".
The Historian is one of the coolest vocations in my opinion. Everyone knows the type of guy who loves to contribute to the guild (or in this case kinship) and this is the perfect vocation for that guy. The associated Scholar profession give the Historian the ability to use the arts to gain various benefits for kinships and fellowships. The Historian can also cultivate farmland and forage for ancient weapons.
Crafting Professions
- Farmer
- Scholar
- Weaponsmith
The Tinker
This is a guide to the Tinker vocation in Lord of the Rings Online. A vocation is comprised of three crafting professions; a production profession, a gathering profession, and a supplemental profession or "side profession".
The Tinker vocation in LOTRO is the jewelry or bauble maker of the game. The Tinker can make the pretty stuff and the baubles that actually affect stats. The Tinker can mine metal and stones for his baubles and as you will note the Cook profession is also part of his arsenal.

The Woodsman

The Woodsman is the obvious RP choice for a ranger/archer type class and as we can all guess he makes bows. The woodsman also farms and chops wood to make his bows of choice.

- Farmer
- Forester
- Woodworker
The Yeoman
This is a guide to the Yeoman vocation in Lord of the Rings Online. A vocation is comprised of three crafting professions; a production profession, a gathering profession, and a supplemental profession or "side profession".
Â
The Yeoman is the farmer and cook vocation in LOTRO. This guy hooks up the adventuring parties with the hot food they need. If you are big into adventuring or in a guild that is then this might be a good choice for you. The Yeoman can also make light and medium armor but he has to trade for the hides.
